Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
- Spoiler:
(Spot here) Well, I've been playing this game for what feels like forever, (started with the original RTCW way back, like when I was 16 or so), and it's held up fairly well. At least, this free version has a few active servers on it yet, as it's older game. But, I'd like to wrangle a few of you on the server I normally play on, if you're up to it.
You can download the full game here: http://download.cnet.com/Return-to-Castle-Wolfenstein-Enemy-Territory-full-install/3000-7441_4-10243510.html
And there's a required patch you can get here: http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/ET_Patch_Windows;39483
Maps, mods, and anything else that's on the server that you log onto that you don't have, gets auto downloaded into the right spot for you to use, and you don't need to get it again. You can connect to the server I play on by hitting the ~ key, and typing /connect et-usa.lzservers.com. (or 75.125.237.218:27960 if that doesn't bring you through) It's fun stuff once you learn it.
You know, I was considering renting a server myself, starting out with a private ten slot server (ten people on it at once max, only people I/ we tell about it would know of it; i.e. doesn't show up in the public list). But, the thing is, I want to know if it'd be worth spending the money on? Would anyone be interested playing on it? The game itself is completely free to get, so nobody would have to pay a penny on it (aside from me, and anyone that might be interested in throwing a few $ my way to keep it running ). I'd like to get an idea first on interest before I went out and paid for it. I found that the set up stated above would cost about $25 every three months. Could be an option for us to branch out in, since the game is a bit older, and doesn't take that much to run.
So basically, it's a WWII shooter game, so I'm not entirely sure how into those everyone is. I think it stands out better than most new shooters because of it's gameplay, and the fact that it's still being played somewhat actively after this long says something.

I've found that 7-Zip also works great to extract .rar files for those that want an alternative to winrar.
http://www.7-zip.org/
Makes it as easy as right clicking the file and selecting either "extract here" or extracting it to the separate destination in the same drop down menu.

I have the English version, but Bear, you posted your Local IP address for your LAN. Not your regular IP. O_o

Not quite. I posted the Host IP address the game gives you as your room-IP. (Make a game > IP Button). Posting the real IP can be very dangerous, regardless if the intention is to play a game.
I just posted a ton of alternative solutions. If they don't work - don't sweat! I'm sure we'll find one so we can all play
EDIT: If you live in TX, you will most likely be able to play the Spanish demo o.O for some odd reason
