- 1 Points = $15.00 Gem Card USD (1200 Gems)
- Rounds 1-8: 05 minute rounds [max] since ea. round of sPvP is 8-13mins long.
Introduction:
- Spoiler:
Hello guildies! I, Engineer Bear, will be hosting a large guild/server duel tournament sometime this X-mas through early January that will not conflict with the guild's "RACE FOR TYRIA" Challenge.
The prize will most likely be paid from myself as a in-store gem card worth around $15-$30 USD (1200 ~ 2400 gems).
The tournament, if enough people sign up for it, is open to everyone. I expect nearly 70% of the guild to attend, and why wouldn't you? Free gems = Free! (All players must be enlisted in Echo to join).
If this becomes a successful event, like it once did before, I might redo it annually. Use this opportunity officers to recruit players! MMO Gamers like these sort of events.
Preview on how successful our mock-tourney Sunday was like:
Round 1-5
- Spoiler:
In order to weed the "weakest link" officers available will be given a list of names they are in charge for + hold score. Each team is going to be in a different server of 16 maximum people.
These weeding-rounds are going to take no longer than 05 minutes per person because of how spvp is setup, and each individual ONLY gets ONE life per round. If both players hit the time limit, then whoever has above 75% health advances. If both players have 100% health, then their match will be called a draw and the server referee will pair them up with someone else that is not the same person.
This structured tournament is setup as to look like DBZ, or Dragon Ball Z. So if you've watched the series, you will understand two people of opposite team battles, and so on and so on until you reach a winner.
Each officer that wants to participate will also have their names plated into the tournament so they can test their luck at the reward. They will not have rank over others when competing but they will hold rank when it comes to directing who duels who, and gives a fair score based on performance.
The score will either given by a Pass or Fail. If the contestant passes, he/she will advance into the next round, and so on until all 5 rounds are accounted for and each team as shown by the example tournament picture above (in-progress) have reached the final round.
Final Round
- Spoiler:
Assuming a large number of people attending (~500); we should only have less than 8-13 Finalists left over. Once we are at this stage, I will take these members and evaluate their performance against each other within Round 6-7 along with some judges to evaluate their performance. Once this process is over, we will ONLY have 2 Lucky Contestants. These remaining 2 individuals will progress towards Semi-national Round.
Semi-National Round
- Spoiler:
On this round, ALL Referee Officers are called mandatory present. This will consist of 2 leaders (Riku, Warscream), 2 Semi-Finalists, myself as video witness, and any other officer that wants to view the final match can come. Everyone else will just have to wait for the video to see the awesome battle.
This battle can take about 15mins to 30mins. Depends on skill for both opponents. These two contestants will duke it out for the Semi-National Round. Once the winner is chosen, he/she will be given a breather/potty/brb time and then will have to face a designated player chosen by the host. [Special Commander/Leader/etc]
If the contestant wins this round, he/she gets ONE point. I will explain about this on the national round. He/she will then advance to the highest/LAST round of the tournament.
- Spoiler:
The winner of the last battle gets to proudly stand up against Guild Leader Engineer Bear's spvp character. IF the contestant out-bests Bear, he/she will gain ONE point.

Re: 2012 Seasonal Tournament
FAQ from the previous thread:
Nibbles04 wrote:I'm sure this will get hashed out in the coming weeks but what exactly are the rules for the tournament? Specifically I'm wondering about the character you are allowed to enter. Will everyone be entering level 1 thieves and mesmers because they are the FotM right now?
As for myself, I'm looking forward to having my ranger get torn up by... well pretty much anyone =)
- Spoiler:
Assuming we have a max guild (500 members), there will be 32 referee officers in charge of 16 players (including them) each team. Teams are separated by 1A-M, and 2A-M consisting of 32 teams in total for rounds 1-7.
On Round 8, 500 (or whatever the top guild count is) members will be dwindled to 8 remaining contestants. This round will give referees a time to relax, considering only Riku+Warscream+me+8 remain contestants+ and 5 volunteering officers will fill 1 server for the last 2-4 rounds.
After round 8, there will be a remainder of 4, and then 2 after. Those two members will be recorded on live, and through youtube and Ustream and will compete to see who challenges the leaders for point rewards. Once there is a winner contestant, he/she will compete against one of the two leaders. If he/she beats one leader she/he will obtain ONE point. If he/she wins one round, he/she will face the other leader for the other point.
IF the leaders decide to participate and make it to semi-national round, then the set max reward they can achieve is only 800 gems to neglect default winning from occurring.
There is a total of 2 points for winning. Thus if you get to semi-national round, you have a chance of winning either 1200 gems (1pt) or 2,400 gems (2pts).
In-tournament rules: Everything goes.
character restriction: none
level restriction: none; Lvl 1 - 80 can attend thus, it is suggested that you bring your best so that you may have a good balanced advantage/opportunity to win.

Dido wrote:Are you allowed to know your opponent's profession ahead of time? This will let people slotting utilties trying to "counter" the profession. Let's say I'm going against a Necromancer as a guardian. I'd slot the *I have a potty mouth* out of condition removals because I know their Deathshroud power build and Minionmaster suck donkey ball in PvP.
- Spoiler:
Due to the infamous enjin character-account feature, you are most welcomed and it is tactical to know your enemy before you fight them. Though because there is no race or character or level restriction, consider a build that generally works good for you and not something exclusive that might lower your guard if your prediction of your enemy changes overtime.
In case less than FIVE teams show up on December 30, I have a rebound tournament set-up saved up for everyone!Ginger wrote:One thing for the level of your character. Spvp had its own version of your character. Nothing you do in pve Carries over to pvp. So a lv 1 and lv 80 in pve have same stats in pvp. The actual armor doesnt matter. No pve feast is used in pvp. Ask your gear comes from vendors in pvp and everything is free except dif Armor skins. So i would advise you play spvp and and learn your char cause 1v1 is way fif than wvw and alot of wvw build don't mean *I have a potty mouth* in pvp.
Of you need hero with your build feel free to ask guild mates. I'm learning several classes and will help I'm anyway i can just ask.
Any Questions/ Signing up or concerns please reply to this thread! Thank you & Merry Christmas to all this week!!
Special message to guild master readers:
Engineer Bear wrote:
Although I understand each guild's privacy might conflict with our roster specifications; if you have enough to build your own team of 16 that you can register with, please let me know "names" and who will be running them so I can explain the tournament layout to those in charge so the ones competing can aim for the champ title! You may also choose to abide by our roster specs if your guild does not have enough to build a team under your discretion.
The fact that you have chosen to accept this invitation means a lot to Fort Aspenwood's members inspired by this event!
Thank you

[indent]
- Everything Goes (boon/class/build)
- 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3 are decided by referee
- Explain what the boundaries are
- 05 minute rounds each. If tie does happen; use 2vs2 or 3vs3 with them and pass the winning team. Then repeat 1vs1 until everyone is accounted.
- DBZ Tournament style: 16 players - 2 ppl fight each other until there is ONE winner PER team.
- When you found said winner, have your team play normal matches of sPvP until every other team is done.
- Good luck!
Rounds 6-7, Semi nat & nat
[indent]
- We will obtain 8-13 finalists; when we reach this number, they must get out of sPvPing and join a special server including me, Riku, Achelos/Warscream and any other referee that wants to come left over.
- This group will go through semi-national and national round.
- This set of round will be recorded.
- Good luck!
